Tourist spot status to Cuttack Maritime Museum


The Cuttack Maritime Museum will get the status of a tourist spot.Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has issued instructions in these regard in a meeting at the State Secretariat and asked the Tourism Department to develop the museum.

It has been decided that the museum would have a 3D theater at a cost of Rs.2.09 crore and to be completed by June.The price of tickets for the theater would be Rs 60.The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) would construct a water park to attract more visitors.

The Maritime Museum which showcases the rich maritime history and traditions of the State. has a corpus fund of Rs 20 crores. In 2014- 15 the museum had 3.80 footfalls of visitors and Rs 48 lakhs was collected.

Apart from this , projecting the maritime practices and traditions, vessels and artifacts, glory and achievements from the ancient age to the colonial era and beyond, the museum includes an aquarium showcasing unique marine life and species found in this part of the globe.
