Odisha government officer discloses her transgender

Odisha government officer discloses her transgender identity in public .The officer born as Ratikanta Pradhan and serving in the Orissa Financial Service has now decided to be named as Aishwarya Rutuparna Pradhan.On 21st December , Monday a 32-year-old Odisha government officermade her transgender identity public.

The officer confessed after the Supreme Court’s decision on April 15, 2014, to recognise transgender under the third category.She conforms that she have already become Aishwarya Rutuparna Pradhan in an affidavit before an executive magistrate. I have submitted relevant records for change and modification of my name and gender. “The very day that the apex court delivered its landmark verdict, I made up my mind to opt for third gender identity instead of male gender,” Pradhan recalled.

She is a native of Kanabagiri village under G Udaygiri block in Odisha’s Kandhamal district .Pradhan is currently posted as Commercial Tax Officer (CTO) in Paradip Port Township.Pradhan is also a post graduate in public administration and a graduate from Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC).”On April 9, 2014, I was posted as CTO, Paradip. That time I used to attire myself in male outfits. Later came the Supreme Court judgement and I switched over to sari”, Pradhan said .
