Odia film ‘Capital I’ selected for the SAAFF,Paris


Odia film ‘Capital I’ is officially selected in competition at the South Asian Alternative Film Festival, Paris.The film stars one of the most acclaimed filmmakers of Odisha,Mr.Susant Misra as a lead actor in a feature film for the first time.The six selected films which is in competition are Capital I, Goli Soda, Lucia, Teenkahon, Titli and Zinda Bhaag.’Capital I’ is the only Odia film at the festival, and as the first independent feature film of Odisha,’Capital I’ makes its presence in the international circuit. The South Asian Alternative Film festival has also announced it’s opening ceremony in Anurag Kashyup’s presence, where his film ‘That girl in yellow boots’ will be screened.The films that ‘Capital I’ would be competing with are all widely acclaimed film.Titli, was another film under the banner of Yash Raj Films, made it to Cannes last year. Zinda Bhaag, starring Naseeruddin Shah was Pakistan’s official entry to the Oscars.Lucia by Pawan Kumar has been one of the most acclaimed films from South India in recent times. In 2014, ‘Capital I’ was screened at 13th Chalachitra Utsav, at Dhaka,Bangladesh and at West Florida Film Festival, USA apart from few other screenings in and around Bhubaneswar. Having made a few short films and documentaries before, ‘Capital I’ is Amartya’s debut feature film.
