Kalahandi Cup is being organised under a new format by Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) here at different grounds from February 26.The 67 league matches so far have produced 34 hundreds, 151 fifties and 126 hauls of four or more wickets in an innings.
Bhubaneswar-B has now become the seventh team and joined the six other teams in the quarterfinals of the Kalahandi Cup Senior Inter-District Tournament by taking a 413-run first-innings lead against Keonjhar in their two-day Group-B qualifying match,which ended in draw at Sunshine Ground , Cuttack yesterday.Rourkela and Cuttack-B have already booked quarterfinal berths by emerging Group B-I and B-II toppers respectively with 25 points each from five matches.
Home favourites Cuttack-A, formidable East Coast Railway, defending champions Bhubaneswar-A and darkhorse Jajpur advanced to the quarterfinals from Group-A. Cuttack-A topped Group A-II with 27 points, winning three matches and drawing two, while Jajpur finished second with 15 points, posting one win and four draws. East Coast Railway came out on top of Group A-I, garnering 27 points from three wins and two draws, while Bhubaneswar-A finished second with 24 points from three wins and two draws.
Meanwhile, Boudh and Rayagada emerged leading contenders for the lone quarterfinal berth from Group-C, garnering nine points each from first two league matches.
